About the film

Privacy Peopleexplores the varied interpretations of what privacy is and its importance to individuals and societies by focusing on the events that have raised cultural awareness of privacy and reflecting on the common refrain that privacy is dead. The story is told by some of the world's most prominent privacy experts from government, industry, academia, and civil society. Beyond privacy as a concept, the film looks at how the privacy profession came to exist and the unique and prominent role women have played throughout the establishment and expansion of the field.

About the filmmaker

I am Stephen Bolinger—a first-time filmmaker and long-time privacy professional. Privacy People has been a personal project of mine throughout 2024, stemming from my belief that there is an important story to tell about the world of privacy and the thriving profession around it.

My privacy career spans nearly two-decades across a variety of industries and geographies. I am currently the Chief Privacy Officer for UK-based events and media company, Informa, and a member of the Jersey Data Protection Authority.

I’m incredibly grateful for the many individuals across the privacy community who took the time to be interviewed for this project and I look forward to sharing the film in 2025.
